My 2020 summer with FLNRORD
During the summer of 2020 I worked in Stewardship for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) in 100 Mile House BC. At the beginning of the summer I conducted planting quality surveys to ensure planting was done to best ensure seedling survival. Throughout the summer I helped layout and GPS block boundary for planting operations and site preparation to ensure resources were used efficiently and for a sustainable future forest. Near the end of the summer I was introduced to the Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP) and I learned how to conduct riparian, biodiversity, and water quality assessments to understand and evaluate how logging and hauling practices are impacting our ecosystems.
